Last weekend I led a Voice in Memoir workshop at Faversham Literary Festival. It was, as always, wonderful to be in the company of people who are curious about memoir.

Mandy Allwood and Me

On Friday, February 4, I was sad to read the news that Mandy Allwood had died and would be cremated with no mourners.

A lot of thought goes into where we start our memoirs.

Some authors start at the beginning with what they know of their birth. Others with what they know of their ancestors. Many people open with a life-changing, amusing or shocking moment to draw their readers in.
